John Hannes serves as a Supervisor of Membership Growth & Experience for Rotary International, leading a team dedicated to enhancing member engagement and driving strategies that strengthen Rotary’s reach and impact worldwide. In this role, he oversees initiatives that improve the club and district experience, foster diversity and inclusion, and support sustainable membership growth.
With more than 15 years at Rotary, John has specialized in interpreting and shaping policy for a global organization, guiding change management efforts, and partnering with volunteer leaders to implement innovative solutions. A proud Rotarian and passionate advocate for causes like food security, gender equality, and global health, John brings creativity and storytelling to his work, inspiring collaboration and meaningful member experiences.
John graduated from Dominican University (River Forest, IL) with a BA in Theatre Arts and lives in Skokie, IL. He has been on staff with Rotary since November 2010, is a Major Donor (Level 1), and is a proud member of the Rotary Club of Chicago Lakeview, Illinois, USA, where he has served in many leadership roles, including club president (2013–14 & 2024–25).
